Match the process to the hull
A fiberglass hull, aluminum pontoon and steel component are not the same job. The material and coating guide our choice of media, pressure and wet or dry process.
Minnesota & Western Wisconsin
Old bottom paint, waterline growth or corrosion on the hull? We bring the mobile unit to your boat and match the blasting process to the material before its next finish.
The process
Boat bottoms and pontoon hulls need a different approach from a steel trailer. We assess the hull material, old coating and condition before choosing dustless (wet) or dry blasting. Fiberglass, aluminum and steel each need their own setup. Send photos of the whole boat, close-ups of the hull and the space around it. We are based in Pequot Lakes and serve Minnesota. Blasting removes the failed layer; it does not repair damaged hull material.
Why it works
A fiberglass hull, aluminum pontoon and steel component are not the same job. The material and coating guide our choice of media, pressure and wet or dry process.
We assess access at your property, storage yard or marina. Include the available space around the hull and permission from the site owner when planning the work.
Removing old coatings can expose the surface underneath. Inspect the stripped hull and arrange any repairs before its next coating. Blasting is surface preparation, not hull repair.
Tell us what coating you plan to use. The condition of the hull and that product's preparation requirements help determine what needs to happen after stripping.
A simple process
Include the hull material, approximate length, existing coating, location and the finish you want next. Show close-ups of growth or corrosion and the whole work area.
We assess the hull and site, discuss wet or dry blasting and confirm the surfaces included. Access and the work area need to be agreed before a visit.
We remove the agreed coatings and growth on site. Inspect the exposed surface and coordinate any repairs and recoating before the boat returns to use.
Where we use it
Failed bottom paint needs a process suited to the hull underneath. Send photos of the coating and any exposed areas so we can assess the material before recommending blasting.
Waterline growth, old coatings and corrosion on aluminum need an assessment before stripping. Show the pontoons, their condition and the space available to reach the surfaces you want cleaned.
Tell us whether the boat is at your property, a storage yard or a marina. Nearby boats, buildings, shoreline and access for the mobile unit all matter. Confirm site permission and discuss the setup before arranging the work.
Common questions
Yes. We assess boat bottoms and pontoon hulls for mobile blasting across Minnesota from our Pequot Lakes base. Send the location, hull material and photos for a free quote.
We assess both, as well as steel. Media and pressure must suit the hull material and its condition. Send photos before deciding how to remove the old coating.
Yes. These are part of our marine blasting work. Show the affected areas and hull material so we can assess the surface and discuss the work area before quoting.
No. It removes surface corrosion, growth and old coatings from suitable material. Damaged or weakened hull material still needs inspection and any necessary repairs before refinishing.
We choose after assessing the hull, coating and surroundings. Dustless (wet) blasting uses water to keep dust down, but it is not dust-free. Dry blasting avoids adding water and suits some heavier surfaces and components.
Send the hull material, approximate length, current coating, location and photos. Include the whole boat, close-ups of problem areas and access around it. Tell us the finish you want next and your preferred timing.
